“Two-Minute Tuesdays” are a series of micro-stories written in five minutes or less. Consider them “public practice,” like that guy who shoots free throws in the park. Prompts are supplied at the bottom in case you want to try your own hand at one of them.
Lost Golf Balls
It’s the rare golfer that can hit a ball onto our property, but it happens. Somebody got one into the dog run once, but no one’s ever managed to hit the house. They get more numerous the closer you get to the fence, hiding under a blanket of leaves like strange mushrooms. We had one brave soul climb the fence during the amateur tournament, playing his lie off of a dead stump near the woodshed.
A year later, he was my stepfather.
